Neil and Denise's 2010 Trip to Italy, Switzerland and Germany |

From May 28 to June 19 of 2010 we took a 3 week vacation to Italy and Switzerland. This was our second vacation in Italy, the first being in 2004. Denise lived in Zurich until she immigrated to the US in June 2000, so she has family and friends there. |

We departed LAX Friday afternoon and landed in Frankfurt, Germany Saturday in time for a quick lunch before continuing to Turin, Italy. In Turin we had a fun dinner and the next morning we walked around the old city before continuing on to the coast. More about Turin... |

Sunday at noon we took the train to Levanto, our temporary home base just north of the five seaside villages known as the Cinque Terre. Our hotel was a 30 minute walk from the train station, where we departed each morning. More about Cinque Terre... |

After 8 days on the coast, we headed north to Bellagio on Lake Como in northern Italy. Along the way we stopped to spend a few hours in Milan, with its huge cathedral Duomo di Milano. We relaxed for 2 days in Bellagio. More about Milan and Bellagio... |

Wednesday morning, June 9, we took a ferry to Menaggio then a bus to Lugano in the Ticino area of Switzerland. There we toured the lake by boat and did lots of walking. More about Lugano... |

On Friday we moved to nearby Locarno, where we met up with the friends from Zurich, who drove from Zurich. They are longtime friends of Denise who have 3 wonderful children. We spent the days swimming, hiking and watching the World Cup at various bars. More about Locarno... |

Sunday we had one last lunch in Locarno before boarding the train for Zurich. In Zurich we spent time with Denise's family, especially her little niece Aline, and Neil took a sidetrip to Germany for 3 days. More about Zurich and Germany... |

While Neil was in Germany, Denise visited some friends and spent extra time with her family. She also went to some doctors who specialize in the food allergies that have plagued her for the last few years. More about Denise's time in Zurich... |
