Neil and Denise in Venice... | ||
September 8, 2004
We stepped off the train and onto a traghetti for a ride on the Grand Canal. Then we walked over several small canals, which Denise loved the most, to our hotel Locanda Fiorita. We saw many gondolas, and that night we hired one. Classic facades like this one dotted the island, shown here from the tower we climbed at Piazza San Marcos. The piazza is famous for its pigeons. |

Inevitably, we wanted to spend another day exploring, so we left our neighborhood and returned to the train station to find an empty room, which led us to the Canal Hotel. Finishing our 24 hour traghetti pass, we motored by ancient palazzos, landmark bridges, and observed the traffic of the canals, including refrigerators! |
