Neil's last days in Zurich... | ||

Friday's train ride from Venice to Zurich took all day and part of the evening. It was gruelling. The highlight was a wonderful pasta dinner in the dining car as we slipped back under the Swiss Alps through the Gotthard Tunnel. |

The countryside surrounding the home of Denise's parents was beautiful. We had refreshments on the deck outside the living area. Klaus took the picture, so we had to get a separate picture of him after we moved downstairs to the pool room, which opened onto a lawn and garden. Jane keeps beautiful gardens surrounding the house. Here, Klaus is raising the huge deck that covers the pool. |

Sunday morning we had brunch in Zurich at Spruengli, then took the tram to Wollishofen, where Neil took this picture of Denise in front of her former apartment building. We had a few relaxing hours after we got back to Zurich, before we were due at the Metropol for a dinner with Denise's friends. |

As the plane took off Monday morning, Neil got a look at Bassersdorf, where we spent so much time (mostly sleeping) at the warm home of Rene and Sonja. The journey back was of course rough, with customs and baggage rechecking at Washington Dulles. But it was an amazing trip that changed Neil's perspective forever. |
